Sweets,Bakery,Candy Shop
If you have a Sweets,Bakery,Candy shop, I want your input. How are sales? Do you like the category? What's your favorite and least favorite thing about the category? How do you get your stock (RS, SSW etc) and how do you price? I'm thinking about switching from petpets to this category. Yay or Nay?

I just left a sweets/bakery spot for Petpets. I was on the fence with it. Good profits but it was just not my thing. I am clearing out all of the left over inventory from it now.

Before I switched to Maps & Neggs category, my experience with sweets and bakery shop was definitely great but it wasn't excellent. I needed to put my prices at SSW for people to be attracted. I've made neopoints from it but again, my shop was only size 200 that time and therefore the selection for buyers was not great. I think averaging my sniping with those food items was around 100k per day? Not that great but hey, it might be different now if I stock those with a shop much bigger from before. You're getting bored of Petpets? You're in for a surprise. Your wish has just been granted! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=1434sweet Do you need more shop sales? I've had it before and I think Petpets is better though. (though I havent tried petpets yet) People looking for food would go look for the Food category first rather than the sweets category so you need to have a higher place in the mall banner than foods for you to get the traffic. _______________________________________________ Bugsy's GUIDE to Effective SHOPKEEPING and MALLING: Version 3: Learn More About Hut Positioning Edition http://www.neopets.com/~bugsy_lenny

I'm not bored of petpets at all. I love petpets! *holds onto all of them* I was just thinking about taking sweets in a bigger mall to see how that goes, but I think I'm going to stay with petpets and training. *nods*

I loved doing just sweets/bakery/candy but then I decided to include 'regular' food items as well because I could afford it at the time and food is a broader catagory and more people choose 'Food' over a more narrow type of food like Bakery/Sweets. I am glad I 'upgraded' lol because now I can still do all the yummy candy and bakery items, but I also have a bunch of food which is fun and profitable! -------------------- Want to be part of a 4 Mil NB ad? I started off as just food and drinks, but last week I moved up into another mall, so I have candy and baked items, too now. It makes me excited because there are so many interesting and yummy looking items there that I wanted to stock before and now can. I don't know how profitable it is since I just started, but I did sell candy and bakery years ago when I wasn't in any mall, so I have an idea of what are good items to stock up on. I haven't had time yet, but I like to restock directly from Neopian stores. You can snatch up some cool stuff for your nps that way. I only use the shop wiz when I am pricing items and sometimes if I'm lucky, I'll find something at a resellable price. What I've been doing a lot lately is buying from people selling out their categories or galleries. These people have everything SW priced and sometimes even lower, so I can get great deals. I've been told my prices are good, in fact, even too low for a shop of my size and being in a mall. I am slowly working on getting a system down for my items but I generally price 50 to 200 nps above lowest on the shop wiz for items under 1,000 nps and 500 np to 5,000 nps for items over 1,000 nps, depending on the item. I agree with unconventional_love, lots of the food items are what bring in profits. But if you know your category well, then your shop will always be profitable. I can't wait until I have room to stock all the candy and bakery items I want. I want to see how it adds to my business.

I've been stocking Sweets, Bakery, Food, and Drinks my whole malling career :D If you have patience and are decent at RSing, I definitely recommend restocking from the Main Bakery shop or Chocolate Factory to get a good idea of what stock to have. From then on, you can price within the 1st or 4th lowest of your ALPHA section on the SW (I still make great sales w/o the SSW). :) When you sell out, you can restock from the SW.. All my bakery and candy items have been restocked directly from the Bazaar, believe it or not. However, when they sell out, that's when I start RSing from the SW. It's easier that way as you don't have to feel like you're using too much NP to introduce stock to your shop.. Bakery/Candy items are expensive; well, at least some of them. If you mark-up too much, you'll never sell. Seriously. x) buuut, if you price well according to the SW, you'll start seeing profits. I'd have to say my favorite thing about this category are the actual items- look on Jellyneo; they're so pretty! lol My least favorite is the pricing and restocking. These items inflate greatly pretty quickly, so sometimes I break even or lose profits. Also, this category doesn't get as much hits on a 4 mill NB ad. If you can, combine it with food and drinks, and take Food/Drinks on NB ads :) Hope that helped!

I did candy/bakery. People usually only go there if they are looking for a specific thing. Also if your lower then the food person, you should be looking at the food persons shop constantly because if they stock baked and candy they are breaking rules with you.

Come to Novi Pier Imports
