Why do you want to quit??

I would just explain to the guild counsel (privately, not on the guild board) that you have had some things come up in real life that you need to focus on and so you no longer have time for such an important role in the guild. Tell them that because of this, you would like them to start looking for a replacement person to fill your position. You can figure out and suggest to them how to transfer the web pages to someone else's pet pages. Be very apologetic but firm. You don't have to tell them what your other time commitments are, in fact, I would not do that because if you give a specific reason, they can criticize that or try to talk you around it. Just say it's too much to discuss right now, but you just need to get out of the guild obligations. Once someone else takes over, it should be easy for you to post less often, or even leave altogether. They will already understand that you are doing it because of other time commitments and not because of anything personal towards them. You can even tell them, don't take it personally, it's not about you, it's just that I have other things I need to focus on right now. Let them know that you value their friendship and that will never change. If they say they will hold your spot, tell them you don't want them to do that because you can't tell how long you will need and you can't handle the pressure of knowing they need you when you are trying to focus on these other things. If this reason is not true, it doesn't really matter. LOL! That's diplomacy. The truth is, whatever reason you have for leaving, you will find other things to do with that time, so this reason will become true soon enough. :P Anyway, that's how I would handle it. :) ~ Love books? I agree with Playful. Just explain to them that you have other things you want to focus on (like malling :P) and that it isn't anything personal. I had this situation a couple of years ago with the guild I ran. I had about 100 members, it was active, friendly, but it was so unbelievably time consuming for me to keep everything up-to-date that I hardly got to enjoy the company. Do you want to leave completely, or are you just wanting to handover your responsibilities? I just stepped down as owner and stayed as a member. I wasn't overly active, but at least I could keep in touch with everyone, and it worked out really well. In fact, I'm with that guild now still :) I hope it all goes ok anyway. It's not something you should even be worrying about it. It is your choice how you spend your time at the end of the day and I'm sure they will understand that sometimes priorities change. Good luck!
