You can start off with a free host and eventually once you feel confident, go after paid hosting. www.byethost.com is an excellent free host. ~Abrar

There's a fairly steep learning curve if you want to get into PHP with no prior knowledge. I'm sure people here would be willing to help (myself included). Part of the problem with buying premade scripts is that they don't always do exactly what you want, and if you don't have any experience with PHP, you don't really know what to look for when making a selection, or how to properly implement and edit it to suit your needs. Depending on what you want/need, I can help with teaching some of the PHP basics. I wouldn't go as far as calling myself anywhere near an expert, but I have home taught myself enough PHP to get my own image selling website up and running; with secure logins, user accounts, image databases, shopping cart, and set up a portal for credit card transactions, etc. If you were interested in learning, let me (us) know. It's a handy skill to have.

Yeah I think you should try with a free host, see how it goes and then decide later. I dont think you should sign a contract just yet.

Plus he gets some money back from ads and donations. Wow, I'm glad that I mostly play free or really cheap ($10-$20) Ones. :) Though my point for posting was to say that to learn, Free hosting is the way to go, then you can upgrade to costly stuff if you feel the need, like I doubt Neomallers could be hosted to such an extent on a free server unless there were excessive amounts of advertisements, maybe not even then.
