Starting Up a Mall - Advice needed! :)

Hi, First of all, thanks for this great site! :) I've recently been introduced to the concept of malling and is planning to start up a mall. The problem is that I find the initial stage extremely difficult as you have to stock up and expand your shop. Add to this, I've stocked up and priced my items above wiz so that they don't sell before I finish stocking. With that, income drops but there is still a constant need to spend. Any advice to help me get started? Any help is greatly appreciated! :* Cel

I've spent some time looking through the guide and have some questions. 1. The guide emphasized on the need to find a mall, but with my current shop size at around 100+, I doubt there would be any malls out there willing to accept me. Plus, I restock in other shops/auction snipe too, and would not be able to fulfill to '10% of items not in category allowed rule' imposed by most of the malls. 2. By going into malling, does it mean that one have to refrain from restocking at other shops (getting items not in category) and focus on shop wiz snipes? If so, does that mean that SSW is a must? Thanks! :)

the 10% thing is vague and differs from mall to mall however in mine i overlook it as long as its priced to go - 10% or 99% i generally do not mind as long as upgrades are up to date. there are some malls that literally dont allow you to stock anything else. skip those since they suck anyways and not worth the hassle. at your size theres plenty of malls out there but they tend to die off as well. if possible try upgrading to ar least 270 or something so you're in a marketplace mall. imo any mall <250 is just a waste of time in terms of profits and its just better to sell wearables or something solo. not to mention the rules tend to be very detailed and restrictive. you mentioned restocking so already, you should be making alot more than you can from malling at sixe 100.

[center] Mm, our mall has a requirement of 5% of your Unique Count for Non Category items... but a lot of our mallers still rs successfully. If you're pricing items to lowest on SSW, they usually sell out pretty quickly anyway... I've sent an SDB of 600 items through my shop without breaking the rule in just a few days in the past (with my UC count I can have up to 36 NCs). So really, those reqs are usually pretty survivable. Especially if you sell the items as you get them. Also, if you choose a category that encompasses the majority of the shops you stock in, that helps. Codestones, dubloons, cures is one and the other is wearables, grooming, toys Shop minimum size is 100. If you would like to know more, gimme a hollar. Just my opinion... if you are going to start your own mall with a shop under main market, it will end up being very costly and not as productive as you might like as far as making points go. If your interest is mainly in being in a mall, you really might consider joining in with someone else while you make enough points to increase your shop size to main market.

Well I'll give you advice on how to make nps.... 1: Play Key Quest! I have gotten 3 codestones, 1negg, stamps, backgrounds, and foods in the last 2 days that have made me pretty well off =D 2: Of course RS cause you can make super profit 3: Dailies/A lot of games ...thats what I do and I pretty much make 13k every 5 minutes....so thats a good way to make your shop bigger =D

the nursery malls have 4 branches which all accept different shop sizes. with the new school year starting and people upgrading to our larger branches, our 2 lower/smaller branches have lots of openings: the babies of neopia for sizes 50+ http://www.neopets.com/~Snowswirling the playground for sizes 100+ http://www.neopets.com/~jacin55 we've been around for 4 years and we're not going anywhere =) good luck!

^ The Nursery are an excellent line of malls and the owner is awesome! My tips: 1. Don't create a new mall, join one. There's already a lot of malls going around for your size shop. 2. If you don't want to join one of the smaller malls, work independently until you get a size that you can join a larger mall. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the replies! Certainly helped cleared alot of my doubts about malling. :) I guess I'm still going to continue with my daily restocking, but price them way lower than the wiz. In the meantime, I'll be looking around for a mall and if that fails, I may be looking to increase my shop size up the 300s before really committing myself to long-term malling. ;) Thanks again for all the malling and money-making tips! :)

If you price your prices between the lowest and the highest in your section of the wiz, you'll make more profit, but the items WILL sell because you name can be seen on the SW.
