Opinions Needed - Subliminal Mall Banner

Hello, it is ME again :D Remember my blue mall banner? Well, it is time I change it... A few things were decided: I'm removing the faerie spots and adding a couple cattegories so it's all covered without the faeries, but I'm adding the faeries to the button of the cattegory... I want to do it Holiday-like.. SO I was using green and red.. But it looks pretty ugly IMO lol Anyone has any xmas-ssy banners I can look at for color idea? I do NOT plan on stealing graphics I want to make my own, but sometimes it's easier to understand a color setup if you see other graphics done... I've looked around premade pages but couldn't find seasonal graphics *shrugs* This is what I have so far and you can see how AWFUL it is. I mean it's just plain ugly -.- The color set I mean... OFC the shapes are not awful.. They're the same as my blue banner but that green... *shivers* So, fire off, any ideas? (banner on second post so I can edit that off, if needed) ------------------------------------- *star*MODERATOR NOTICE | ** MOVED ** from Graphics Requests to Shop/Graphics Advice/Criticism -------------------------------------

You could always just try different shades, maybe a lighter green could just propose some new ideas, or even look better. --- Step outside, take a breath of fresh air, then look down to see if you have a new text message.

Just putting out my 2 cents... Maybe trying more brighter or vivid colors will get the effect you want (definitely make the red on the buttons a tiny bit lighter). I'm sure you are in the process of it, but, of course, pictures are a must for the categories. Maybe add some christmas-y pictures in all that green space at the bottom. The only part I hate is the "Subliminal Outlets" text at the top and "Happy Holidays" at the bottom because you have those nice smooth buttons but the text is a little hard to read (mostly at the bottom) and doesn't look anywhere near as professional as the buttons. The reds don't match up with the buttons and text which distracts me, but that could just be a personal thing. I will say that I like the look of the buttons and the green doesn't seem to bother me as that is about the color of a christmas tree/wreath (maybe a tad lighter). And that is all I can think of to say! Good luck with your banner! (:

~ May ~ Ok, first off, sorry for putting on graphics request - wasn't paying attention, just went for "graphics". My fault Second... Yes images will be added, I just worked on it a few minutes :P Maybe a brighter shade, that's true, it might work :) *hums* I'll work on it saturday, prolly.. I plan on using themed cattegory images and changing the text - I like the top font, but someone said I shouldn't use handwritten, I think it was Dmitri? But.. But... It's so pretty xD

I have a winter themed mall banner up. Probably not what you're looking for, but maybe it'll give you an idea or two. - Kara

Handwritten is fine when the theme is ok (for ex: to give a natural/no artificial stuff feeling)] But if you're looking for corporate/professional theme, stay away from it

You don't have to go with green and red (which really are not flattering colors because one is a warm and the other a cool; unless you pick the right combo) -- blue and silver; red and gold; green and gold or silver work together great. I think your images can communicate seasonal even if your colors don't. If you do go with green and red, pick colors with more blue in them instead of yellow. When you add blue to red and green it becomes a "cool color". Warm colors (red and green with yellow added) looks brown/muddy sometimes on people's monitors -- those are the shades you have now). Here is the difference (forgive all the spaces between but you can't see the difference without all the space between the examples): ||||||||COOL RED WARM RED|||||||| ||||||||COOL GREEN WARM GREEN|||||||| [br][br][br][br][br][br][br][br] ||||||||COOL RED ||||||||COOL GREEN [br][br][br][br][br][br][br][br] WARM RED|||||||| WARM GREEN|||||||| [br][br][br][br][br][br][br][br] Here are two Seasonal Banners I've made recently: (warm color scheme) http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/420/slide1uz.jpg (cool color scheme) http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/8649/slide2h.jpg ~ Mimi ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ temps_bons graphics ~ http://www.neopets.com/~Mimi_Miaulement

~ May ~ Ok, I did some color testing and Mimi, thanks for the color ideas, blue and silver does look great :) Thanks for everyone's tips tho, lovely ones :D I'll start placing images now and such, which is the tricky part :P

Ohh that looks a lot better! Really nice.

The colors look pretty good together but it seems a tad bland to me, especially in the day of super flashy mall banners. Maybe that's what you are going for, simplicity, and if it is you nailed it but otherwise I might spice it up a bit.
