Lost Desert Mall

So... Ive decided to create my own mall... Have been thinking about it for a while... so i decided to give it a go. ;) We already have quite a few members (considering the mall is less than 5 hours old) Im hoping that once we get more members, I can split the mall into branches... Heres the rough basics... Would love some input! :D (I realise the base layout of the petpage isnt anything special... Im working on the coding... it will (hopefully) get better, as the mall gets bigger (need to learn the coding first. ;) ) ) http://www.neopets.com/~daddycool25441

I would strongly advise against having mall branches for a long, long time. start with one mall, get it well established, and focus on that. I'm 99.9% sure that if you open a mall with a gazillion different branches it will fail miserably. Just my opinion anyway :P gl recruiting!

Thats the plan. ;) Once I have 8/9 spots filled, and have people looking for spots that are already taken, THEN ill think about starting the next branch. ;) But thanks for the advice. ;)

That isn't what we meant though. Established would mean that you have been around a while, all mall positions are filled in the first mall, and you realise you are just sat twiddling your thumbs and would love to open another. There is always more popular spots, to use xmart as an example, since it's easiest for me :P Can you imagine how many people are interested in say doing wearables with xmart? I'm sure if Dmitri kept a list it would be insanely long, and the same with most of the other half decent spots. Does that mean he should have 20 different branches? No, people just go elsewhere. I get that. ;) Trust me. Hehe What Im aiming for, is to get established with this mall, get the members to upgrade their shops, and, once the mall is known around here, POSSIBLY open a MM branch... or a 500+ branch or something. If so, it wont go much farther than that. Im not planing to open a new branch, every time someone wants a wearables spot or a pb spot. ;) But thanks. ;) Any other suggestions/comments?

No not really :) just good luck. I've done my fair share of managing malls and also had my own for a time. It's way more hard work owning your own, so yeah just good luck :) It's never been much of my sort of thing. I like managing, when I have the time, but owning is just too big a thing for me, hence why i'm with Dmitri now. Nice to have someone to lean on. Sorry China but I'm going to talk about you as if you weren't here for a second ;) She has experience with the Nursery Malls which have 4 branches; is pretty successful over all but just closed one of it's branches due to lack of management/mall owner is pressed for time with a non-napping child *lol*; and she knows about the problems with recruiting since she has run that mall's recruiting board and 4Mil ad. Okay....I agree with them, LOL! I think you do too but it just didn't sound that way by your post. There are very few successful branched malls seemingly so hold out for an excellent mall instead of kinda good branches would be my advice. Also, get to work on that mall page and banner since graphics is the MAJOR selling point to get people to join your mall (besides shop sizes, reputation and Ad requirements, what else is there to think about?)! I'll be happy to help you if you want to PM me. Thanks. :) I really like managing/owning... thats just totally my thing... so I hope it will work out. ;) I just get frustrated really fast, when things dont work out, the way i want them to (for example finding members or figuring out how to code something, so it ends up the way I want it to...). But I always end up learning something from it... So I guess its all good. ;)
