Yeah the server went down. Just curious When the server goes down does that mean the shop counter doesn't work for that period.. No real reason wanting to know but just curious

Depends. If the SQL server is down, then yeah counters wont be working. But for the most part yeah, since when the main server goes down, the SQL part of it also goes down. However there are times when the main server is ok but the SQL DB server is dead.
