Such petpage would certainly be useful. I never did that category before. The only tips I can give you are: *Have a lot of different items in stock. *For common neggs, stock several at once. *For maps, try to have all (buyable) map pieces of certain maps, if you just start growing your stock, I wouldn't recommend buying World Challenge map pieces. *For luck, I would recommend selling neocola tokens. (They restock often at the space weapon shop). Also have a bunch of scratch cards and other luck items in stock at all times. *Advertise at the shop ads board. Especially advertise your luck items. Also ask them to post the prizes and tell them you can win transmogrification potions with neocola tokens and draik eggs with transferring maps. I think this is a category which people may bookmark. But therefore you will need to have a big and good looking stock (don't sell junk) and decent prices (don't sell for 2-4 times the value of the actual item). What is your shop size?
i just switched into this category, and sales are pretty slow :| any tips? would a map/negg buying guide petpage help?
I do maps, paint brushes, and morphing potions, and the biggest thing is if you're not MM you're going to have to price according to the SW to some degree and also realize that prices change drastically. The lowest Secret Lab map piece has gone for 11k - 9k - 7k, then out of nowhere jumped back up to 11k. And the lowest treasure map has been doing the exact same thing but I think right now its at a low of 5k or something. My suggestion for that section would be to buy lower than your SW category and price about 1/3-1/2 in the top 5 of your SW category and then the rest a little higher so therefore that is where most of your profit is coming from. Most people if they see that most of your pieces are the lowest, they'll go ahead and buy all of them from your shop instead of refreshing and trying to find them. At that point don't rely just on the SW - start making ads on the shop boards and bump it every once in awhile but always put in the title - buying, post shops too, so therefore you're getting free bumps. And if you don't see a certain piece selling for awhile, go and recheck prices. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=evilbluemunkeyz

Hmm... what account do you use for malling? I checked under the same name as the one you're using here, and came up with a shop that is size 5 and empty... So I'm assuming thats not you? ------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~ Come visit my map shop ~~

1434sweet could also weigh in heavily on how to improve sales, I believe. Once you learn the pricing for maps, it's very profitable. I do know you need some pieces to be competitively prized on the wiz. Almost everyone I know who is successful with that category uses a petpage. I'm not saying it correlates with success, but it certainly couldn't hurt. I would suggest putting one up. I'll let the experts suggest more for you :P - Kara
i'm main market, sorry i didn't mention that. is it more profitable to bulk stock map pieces at near sw prices, or to mark them up as you would with most mall items?
I have SSW so that helps me out a ton. I tend to have at least 20+ extras of the maps in my SDB so whenever I'm running low I run an SSW search and buy out all of the lower ones and sometimes that raises the prices therefore my upped price is close to the lower SW prices. Also, what I've started doing is if I don't need much, I'll still do the SSW search and just buy out the lower ones in my category. As well as grab the ones that are drastically reduced. I know with the spooky maps the ones that are worth around 11-12k can be sniped for 9-10k almost every hour as well at the 22k piece I just wait and buy once it drops down to 19k since it always goes back up. I'm not MM though - no where close - so this is how I do it, but you might also want to check with people who are MM and see what they do as well. And with WC pieces - I do the challenges every now and then so I only sell my extra pieces since most people that do the challenges refuse to buy pieces, instead they have a whole trading system and when you do get them I always price them lowest on SSW because otherwise it can take weeks for even one to sell. http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=evilbluemunkeyz

Hmm, so you stock primarily just the original map pieces, and no WC's... Restocking the original maps is such a pain, with the pricing issues and all. So I rely on the WC's for profit more so than the original maps. I keep my originals frightfully marked up, and I stock quite a few more of them than I stock of WC's. I can't help you any with how you should deal with any other items, though.. My categories are maps, wc, and album. Sorry. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~ Come visit my map shop ~~
