Idea/suggestion for the portal :)

I had an idea's which could improve the neomallers portal a little bit. If you add a list with all items to the portal and categorize them, you could have an option to check what items you do not yet have in stock. (Only problem would be to filter UB's) You can also have a category of quest items. So you can check what faerie quest items you do not yet have in stock. If you are in charge of the books category, you can use this tool to see what water faerie quest items your shop is missing. Another idea,.. If neomallers starts working together with either iPricing or JN's itemdatabase, We could be able to create a list of all the average prices of the items. This list can be added to the portal, so people wouldn't need to manually edit the "buy at value" of all the items in their portal to see how much profit they made. Just some idea's :) Ps: I can get you a list of all the items. I can also get you a list of all faerie quest items.
Do you know what your friends say behind your back for going on neo? Couple of my housemates at university found out I play .. but I didn't really care for it all that much :P I just laugh it off. But I don't go out of my way to advertise that I play neopets.

LOL forget about talking behind your back, what people would say in front of my face would be bad enough. _______________________
The Preschool Mall: Petpet Paradise http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=mizleah

love the search function btw! Thanks! :D It would be cool, if you could search for profits too... (hope you know what i mean... on the manage stock part of the item database...) Wearables and Backgrounds: http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=_always_lonely_ :D
------- Books, School & Water Faerie Items: http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=_always_lonely_ :D

I have yet another suggestion. ;) Would it be possible, to add a function, where you could search for the number of items in stock, compared to the number of items sold in total? Might be better to have the low in stock items work that way... with some items, less than 10 items is low in stock, for others, its 2 items... If you could enter like 10% of the total items sold, or 5%, that might be more useful... make sense? That would really help ME out... probably others too... ;) ------- Wearables and Backgrounds: http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=_always_lonely_ :D

Probably not. For some of us, we have like 1000+ of a particular item sold and even 10% would be 100 must be in stock. Plus you can already override the default low in stock warning value. I want to keep this thing simple and already it's overwhelming enough. The amount of features alone scares probably 75% of users -------------------------------------------------------------- Get a SuAP

I think your work in VB6 is quite good :D I've tested the Portal and used it some, but I think for people like me, where most my stock is from SSW snipes, the profit calculations are no good as my costs constantly vary. For mallers that buy from shops in bulk for their stock, it works great :D The only thing I noticed, is that it seems to take a bit for sales input to refresh on the other controls around the app (main page sales/profit and etc). It could be just me, Im not sure. None the less, very nice work :D I wish there was a way user shop purchases could be captured/recorded, but in a mannor that does not directly interact with the data (that is a no no with Neopets). I really dislike IE, especially with its vulnerabilities, but it is the core that the Webbrowser control uses in VB.net :( My thoughts are that if I make a web browser, and log the url history, I might be able to log each purchase I make and its cost, and add that to a MYSQL (or simpler comma delimited txt) database. That is, if such history is created when purchasing an item. Still though, IE scares me with its weaknesses and vulnerabilities :( Anywho, Im babbling lol. I look forward to any new ideas/updates you have on the Portal, and keep up the excellent work :D -------------------------------------------------------------- The STUFF - Mainly Codestones @ reasonable prices http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=whispering_acara&misc

What would be REALLY, REALLY, REALLY helpful for me is some layout changes to the portal. I have bad eyesight and I made the font size for my entire laptop larger pretty much everywhere. But the portal has this weird fixed layout and everything just looks super out of place! I also don't really like the dark layout, it hurts my eyes. There's just not enough contrast between the grey text and the black background. Would it be possible in any way to make the portal easier on the eyes for almost-blind people like me? :-P I attached a screenshot of what the portal looks like for me. The links are also way off, so when I want to submit my shop front, I have to click the sales history button... and so on.

Sorry, the Portal is currently out of development now (which means i wont be updating it except to Portal 10.0 which allows you to transfer everything to the web version) However, you should be able to work it fine on the web thing. I'll try to keep CSS to a minimum so you can zoom in and out ----------------------------- Contrary to popular belief, the Irish and I are not married
