Poll: Do you shutdown your computer?

or do you put it on standby like me when you're not using it :P
1868524 sec (21 days, 15 hours, 2 min, 4 sec)
P.S. to find out when you last started your computer:
Option 1: 1. Go to "Start" -> "Run". 2. Write "CMD" and press on "Enter" key. 3. Write the command "net statistics server" and press on "Enter" key. 4. The line that start with "Statistics since …" provides the time that the server was up from.

I used to always leave mine on. But lately I have noticed my computer starts to run slower and slower the more days I leave it on. And now my kids are getting on me to save energy since it's earth day today. So now I have been shutting it off each night.
That's right, mom! That came out weird...
*lol* Ok ok! Just like us our computer gets tired. The computer creates a lot of heat and though the fans try to cool it it still gets hot and needs to cool down. There are many things that go on when you restart that are good for your computer so I do it once a week. Mine runs all night for updates to virus protection, programs, and my virus scans start in the middle of the night so I don't have to be interrupted by them. A LOT of problems with speed/memory etc. can be solved with a simple restart and defragmenting your hard drive regularly. ~ Mimi (Please read my Guest Book: Requesting Guide Help) _____________________________________________________ Mimi's Ménagerie: Healthy Tastes Good Here! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons

yea, I agree with you about the regular maintenance (reboot, defrag, etc.) That REALLY makes a difference! I turn mine on first thing in the morning - (before I even go to the bathroom, LOL!) - and leave it on until I go to bed at night. Occasionally I'll leave it on overnight, but when I do it usually gets a little buggy. My computer is 4 yrs old and very very overloaded (with programs, not files) so it really needs to reboot every day. Need books?
