For those in the Main Marketplace and other marketplaces ...

Is it worth the sales? What category are you in? Do certain categories get more hits? Do certain categories get more sales? I used to run a relatively large shop back in the day but during TNT's spam happy icings 'for your own protection' I lost my account and my beautiful shop TWICE (I had remade on another account and was then frozen 4 months later or something). I'm just getting back in the game and am starting with nothing, trying to work back up to 15+mil again :(. I was hoping to get some advice and get some of the questions about main market that are always in the back of my mind.

It's all about graphics and competitive pricing. The customers have changed as well over time. Back then, all you needed was pretty much any banner and you got sales pretty easily. Nowadays you gotta aim for "normal, well-informed buyers). Of course you've still got the usual set.. and that's where graphics come in. How do you personally go about doing this? What have you found most effective? I personally have informative banners on the potential prizes from the scratchcards in my shop.

:) cool graphics and competitive pricing gets sales in I found. And then the constant restocking. Quest categories tend to go really fast and bring in daily sales. But as a general courtesy to my fellow shop keepers I don't stock more than one of each item in stock. And if I do, it's generally somewhere down the shop wiz page. It's so I don't bring down profits for everyone. Undercutting tends to backfire if you stock multiples. You end up cutting into your own profits and annoy your fellow shop keepers as well.

Mannn I wish I had a decent graphics making engine ... I still run MS Paint. However, I think I do alright with it :P

I find each category has it's merits. I used to run a Negg and Map shop, easy to snipe items for, Key Quest prizes etc. Not much repeat sales, but when someone went on a shopping spree, you could find 1 million in your till easily. Now I run a card and stamp shop, just hit main market and in a main market mall, lots of sales, but they are smaller, the advantage being it is an easy category to restock for to increase your hits and it is a faerie quest shop

Currently I'm running a Training/Luck Shop. I price all my faeries and codestones lowest on the Wiz (or close to by 10 or 25 NP) and I tend to sell out of those every night. All the mother items are up in price, and those sales are occasional, but with lots of profit. I usually wake up with a couple million in the till.
