Opinions on noticeboard ads!

Ok, so last year when I ran ads I used to make an insane profit off them 0:-) like easily 700k plus on the peak day. Anyway, I had top ad yesterday, and while my hits were beyond ridiculous quite frankly, my profit was only a little over 230k. Now I know it will pick up as summer comes closer, I also know not everything about ads is the profit, but yeah, I thought that was particularly poor. Sure there are off weeks, but as the poster of the ad, it doesn't feel like I should have sacrificed sleep to post that *lol* Just wondering, if you were me, would you keep running the ad? I also have a sunday ad, I didn't get top with it so I know that ones going to be a complete fail. A good friend of mine said maybe I should just run the Thursday ad and not the sunday one. Opinions? :*

My personal opinion on NB ads, is that people tend to overkill them. " I'm going to be in 2 ads, 3 ads, 4 ads, and expect them to do all the work for me". Quite frankly, that's not how it works. Much like running for politics, you need the grassroots aspect. In translation to neopets, the free advertising. You need to go to the shop ads neoboard and advertise. You need to chat on the other boards and make yourself known. It's not all about the NB. I personally do 3 NB ads, because, well one is require, but the other two are dirt cheap, as in under 200K each. I would never pay over 200K for a 4 mil ad. That is just a waste to me. Why pay almost 400K for an ad space when you can get in to two different ads for that same price? That's a clear waste of NP! I think one ad is enough if you're doing some work on the grassroots end. Sorry if my thought are sporadic, my valium makes my thoughts all crazy like. lol

I understand what you are saying :) Must say tried shop ads a fair few times and never really found it to be all that helpful. On the whole my shop does well. Just first time i'd been top of an ad in easily over 6 months and was kinda shocked at the results :P

I get a ton of views from the shop ads board. It's a solid 45% of my shop hits. I know I wouldn't get as many hits as I do without that board :P

I don't deny it gets hits occasionally, but sales, not so much. I get plenty of exposure on a daily basis, and have some other more unique means for it 0:-) That don't involve me numbing my mind bumping a board :P I'd probably go on shop ads more if I had the time, just yeah, I feel like all my neo time is already so tied up *lol* but then I guess i'm not as dedicated a maller as some, I have many other incomes which bring me some nice neopoints, malling has always just been a steady extra for me.

The SAC isn't always abouts hits. It's about getting yourself known. If people know who you are (see you on the boards a lot), the chances are they'll stop by your shop when they see you on the boards. This is especially true with newer players

Eww again thats terrible for a training button! The toy shop dropped out, i'm assuming due to bad sales also. I noticed a lot of people do 1np sales on shop ads these days as a mission to get noticed as traditional methods aren't as great as they used to be. I don't know, shop ads just seems too much like hard work for me 0:-) sad but true, i'd rather go rs or snipe instead

I'm thinking/hoping that it's just a seasonal thing and that the nb will be helpful again once the kiddies are out of school for the summer. I also didn't see much of an increase in sales on the peak day for the nb advert that I'm on. 230k, though? you must have been mortified....considering your category (the same as mine) you should be seeing way more profit than that on a day when you are NOT on an nb advert, so to only get that much profit on peak day would be horrible. ~~~ bête noire (bet-NWAHR) noun: An object or person that is particularly disliked or that is to be avoided

That's what I've been trying to tell my participants! They complain about bad sales but they haven't done anything but sit on their butts waiting for people to buy their stuff. I, on the other hand, had been getting tremendous sales because I commit to advertise my shop in every way possible via boards, forums, ads, etc. You're in for a surprise.
