Your opinions on breaking up categories

So I run a few 4mil NB Ads, and on the ads, there's obviously some categories that are more popular than others. And I wanted to see what most people think of the best way to break down categories are. For example... Neohome/Garden seems popular... would you keep it 1 button? Maybe 2? (Neohome and Garden) Maybe 3? (Furniture, Neohome V2, Garden) Another one is Food/Drinks/etc. Same thing, 1, 2, 3 buttons? (Food, Drinks, Candy/Bakery, etc) And a big one is Clothing! I was thinking of even doing 4 buttons! (Grooming, Clothing, Wearables, Trinkets, Backgrounds, etc) I know that it would be good to get more people on the ad, since they are more popular categories. But then, people might also be less willing to participate if their category got split into 2/3/4 buttons and they only have 1 of those buttons... Also, are there any other categories that you think would be good to break up? And lastly, do you think that its better to have the 6 faerie buttons on an ad? Or scrap them and allow for more room for regular buttons? Faeries are sort of hard to fill, yet I like having them on my ads... So yea, just wanted to open up a discussion about peoples opinions :D

Oh yea, for some reason I thought that I had Clothes/Grooming together already but I dont *lol*. I guess I havent had any trouble filling Grooming, so I didnt notice :P And this thread is just to get lots of feedback and info on what the majority thinks. I dont think I'll be changing my ads anytime soon. I sort of want to give it a huge revamp/makeover... but they are running fine now, so I dont know if I should bother :P and yes, for sure I'd be giving current members first choice at what they wanted. I know if I did end up revamping, I probably wouldnt be able to please everyone, but I'd try my best to find places for as many people as possible :)
People don't care about profit? o_O Why would they just waste their NPs? :P
They are rich people who don't care about neopoints.
the splitting up of categories too much irritates me and hurts your hits. I dropped out of an NB advert once because I had held the Clothing/Grooming button and then one day out of the blue they added a Wearables/Background button (before the Clothing/Grooming one was the only relevant one on the advert) and my hits from that ad took a HUGE drop. Clothing/Grooming is a bit of a poopy button once Wearables/Backgrounds gets tossed in there.
That happened to me too, but the ad closed down soon afterward. The wearables spot is just so competitive.

"And I hope you give existing members first choice of categories if you do decide to change/add more buttons" That raises a good point. I would have stayed on the advert that I dropped out of if the person running it had mentioned to me "I am adding a new Wearables/Backgrounds button, do you want to take that one on since you've been on my advert for over 6 months or do you want to stick with the Clothing/Grooming button?" I would have taken the Wearables/Backgrounds button and stayed with the advert had I been given the choice. Instead I looked at the advert once it was posted and was like "what the fresh hell?". Way disrespectful. Not cool. So as long as you don't pull any surprises like that on your existing participants you should be okay. ;)
bête noire (bet-NWAHR) noun: An object or person that is particularly disliked or that is to be avoided

Problem is that splitting things up, I know I wouldnt be able to please EVERYONE :P Then trying to give priority to the people who have been there longer... but not always knowing who came first... :P Yea... we'll see if I ever change it :P

Yeah over splitting isnt that great. The clothing/grooming gets a big hit when its separated from wearables so you'll have to drop the fees significantly for that person. Basically, this means TOTAL COST/total spots to calculate everyone's fees is not a good way to approach it. The cards person is bound to get lower hits/sales than a furniture/wearables and it would be unfair for both to pay the same fees

Yeaaa.... but then it becomes all subjective and annoying xD Rather not start down that path

Is this alright with you? Her account is currently frozen but hopefully she'll eventually get unfrozen. You're in for a surprise. I recently started participating in a 4mil ad, first time I only had garden, second time I had furny/garden on my button. The second ad actually broke even for me, based on the difference in profit (averaged over the four weeks leading up to the NBad weeks). The first ad I lost money on. Personally, I wouldn't take a garden spot again unless it had furniture with it. That doesn't mean you won't fill it, you might just find a high turnover of participants.

For instance, I have an individual who is taking Furniture and Garden at the same time but does not take the spot the following week. Since, the button is much larger, she gets profit this way and get enough neopoints to do it again after a few weeks. Although she only participates once a month (my advertisement is bi-weekly), I think she's quite happy with the turnout. You're in for a surprise.
