Yeah I rarely rs on half price day as I just get pissed off 0:-) got the odd decent item but bleh!
I vary my shops on my mood, and what I want. I'm tight, if I want something I try to rs it rather than buy it. Recently i've been in magic because I want a draik MP to gift someone for christmas. Meri petpet because I need them for my gallery and also backgrounds because I need more for my closet.
If you ever want help with a particular shop feel free to contact me (I don't bite) I'm no amazing rser, but I do decently. My problem is I like to screw up r99 petpets. I've mishaggled a hasee, mishaggled a chan, overtabbed a zebie, overtabbed a krawk... yeah i'm crap.
Meanwhile i've got a few decent restocks under my belt which I call luck :P rsed a LEV, couple of MPs, a fair few r99 and r98 petpets (yes I managed to not screw up some r99 petpets afterall haha, namely cadro (sold for 6 mil at the time :O) zebie (think i've had two of them), a cute r98 meepit.
I find a good mix of shops is good though, and to work out what you can manage. If i'm in crowded shops I rs in no more than 3 at a time. If i'm in quiet ones like petpets I feel perfectly comfy with 12 tabs open.
I am so glad someone else screws up the huge profit items too! I miss haggle most of the time because I panic a little when I finally get a great item. The one time I got a Kad to feed I freaked out and messed that up too. Okay, I'm feeling more confident now.
I believe the neopian shops restock after an algorithm measuring the number of pageloads in that specific shop. In other words, I think they stock more frequently the more people are rsing in them. If this theory is right, it means rsing during calmer times of the day increases your chances of getting an item, but decreases your chances of seeing a restock in the first place. Obviously there's no way to prove or disprove this idea; it's just something I've noticed when rsing myself :)

This is why I don't restock unless it's 1/2 price day -- I thought it was that my timing was just piss poor on other days. I am not kidding that I can refresh on aquatic petpets/spooky petpets/grooming / plushie and see not one single restock -- ever on a non 1/2 price day. Typically I would try in from 11 PM to 7 AM NST thinking there would be less players on-line to compete with.

Kirsty, sorry I didn't give more of an explanation for my little theory lol, I was in a rush as I had to get my butt to work.
All I meant was that by having 20+ pages of stock, generally you are stocking some items that practically *never* sell, and are virtually just taking up space. Having so many pages for your customers to scroll through can sometimes cause them to get annoyed and wander off to someone else's shop (especially when you consider the age of your average customer, ie attention span -5 lol). In my experience sales will increase if you weed out these items that seem to sell once a year, and just keep your shop nicely stocked with the items that are more in demand. I don't think anyone sells each of their items across 20 pages on a regular basis; unless of course they are heavy into wiz pricing, in which case that is a different story.
Just my opinion, anyway lol.
