Kirsty, sorry I didn't give more of an explanation for my little theory lol, I was in a rush as I had to get my butt to work.
*refrains from posting*
*lol* Oh don't make me laugh i'm ill and it makes me cough! Anyhow thanks for the explanation Brandon, I guess I can see how that could happen. I'd personally never thought too many pages of stock could ever exist. Since it's more items which could potentially end up wiz price and lead to extra shop exposure. Meanwhile there is some people who bookmark and slowly buy their way through your stock. I'd always though as long as you have your best sellers kept in bulk you should be good

7.) I'm nowhere near marketplace size yet :(, but still I've been wondering if it would be more worth it to be to in a great hut in the spooky market rather then to stay in a random hut in the main market (sales-wise). ?? I think I will have to agree with kirsty about how the more pages the better. Doesn't the more items you have mean the more chances of one selling? A customer can easily search through 3 pages of stock, and after perhaps buying one or two items they'll be gone. But if you have lots of pages, they'll probably resort to bookmarking the shop.

Yea I can understand that, too. I think it can probably go either way and it may work better for certain categories.

What about cruddy hut in Main vs. great hut in Island? I am not market size so this is just a guess. I think main is always better because if you click around Neopia's Main Shops (saying you never find the globe that takes you everywhere) then you can find the main market. You'd have to find the market huts on Mystery Island and in the Haunted Woods which gets harder (i.e. island market is easier to find than spooky market). _____________________________________________________ ~ Mimi's Ménagerie Avatars ~ http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=temps_bons&misc

6.) Is it possible to get 300 Million neopoints within a three year period? I think some of the positive replies on this may have been a bit optimistic - perhaps because they have such established accounts and activities. If you already have a huge shop (yes, Dmitri, even 700 is huge to some of us! :P - not to mention your shop placement is over size 700) and a huge amount of np to play with, AND you've mastered restocking rare items from the Neopian shops, then the sky is probably the limit. But bringing it back down to earth, for someone just starting out on Neopets with a brand new account and only the requisite 2k np and no shop, no experience restocking, just learning the games, etc., I think it would be really hard to do. I played for about 2 years before my original main got iced, then I had to start over on a side account. I've been at that for about 3 years now, and I'm working hard, and I will maybe make 15 - 20 million this whole year - and that includes np I am re-investing into my shop - I don't mean 15 - 20 mil just sitting there in my pocket. I do pretty well at stocks, Food Club bets, and the lottery, but I never restock from Neopian shops because my internet connection is too slow, so the only rare items I luck out with are the occasional snipe I find on wiz. Ever since I made this side account my main, the focus has been on building my shop. I have not trained pets or added any really expensive items to my galleries. I don't even spend np on the wheels or other dailies (except the lottery). I may not be typical (I have no idea) but I'm offering the point of view from someone with a little knowledge but who is starting from scratch on a new account with no shop or np. If there's a faster way to make np (other than restocking from the main shops) that I don't know about, I'd love to hear it. I think I'm putting in a lot of effort each day. I restock for several hours most days and most of the items in my shop are giving me a profit of at least 1k. Personally, I can't even imagine 100 million, much less 300 million. If I ever get my shop large enough to not have all the hits be from wiz, my dream is to buy a Draik morphing potion. I've had that same dream for over 3 years, but still can't afford one without compromising my shop growth. New accounts with no np or shop take awhile to get the momentum flowing. Once you get momentum, it becomes a lot easier, but that momentum can take awhile to get going. Anyway, as they say, this is the OTHER side of the story. :P As for biggest difference in sales, getting my shop to size 100 was the first big jump in sales (started showing at around size 85). After that, being in a good mall can make a real difference. I've been in bad malls, so I do have something to compare it to. And yes, there are good and bad times of year. That being said, "a jump in sales" can depend more on your restocking and pricing habits. Most items priced lowest (or in the bottom 3) on SuperWiz are going to move out quickly, but whether you can make a profit at that price is another story. Because of this, I think basing your calculations on profits rather than items sold makes more sense. I have raised my prices on most items so I can keep up with the restocking. This means fewer sales, but more profit and less work, which I am happy with. Since I do price for wiz and get almost all my hits from wiz, the more items I have in my shop, the more items I sell. I have noticed an increase in sales/profits each time I upgrade (which I tend to do in jumps of 20 or more sizes at a time). I don't sell many 1st page items, probably because my customers are coming from wiz and just buying the item they searched for. I don't have very many customers who buy more than 1 item (proof of this theory), but I do have a large percentage of my hits buying items (about 2/3rds will buy). Occasionally, I do get a volume buyer that will click through a lot of pages. For example, last Wednesday I had 1 customer buy over 200 items, from all through my shop. At least once a week someone will mass buy 20-80 items or so. I normally only keep 10-12 pages stocked at a time. Anyway, this is one example from the poorer side of the tracks, someone with a small shop, not in main market yet, still having to price low wiz to get traffic. May we all get to main market one day! *raises glass* :D ~ Love books? Please visit my bookshop. :) http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=lolooma

I think it took me 3 years to make my first million =P but that was with a very small "guild mall" shop and mostly playing games for income. I also am always spending NPs on friends and my guild, so it takes even longer to build up. But once I started malling about 2-3 years ago, I did OK in a mini mall, even without shop-wiz pricing. (I think things have changed since then, though.) Once I started working on my shop more aggressively and joined a growing mall, I noticed my first big jump in sales when I got to the big tombstones in spooky market. I didn't even notice that much of an increase when I got to the lower shops in main market last November - until this summer, really (and I'm expecting them to drop back off soon).
