5tar ~~ How do you make a Website? um i mean.....

Hello everyone I want to make a website. Yes a paid website, none of this free crappy websites.. I dont want www.yourwebsite.yola.com junky things, www.yourwebsite.com is what im after. Anyone here with expierence with websites could lead me to the wright direction? Cheers thanks very much ill be lurking at this board every 5- 10 min

Ive been hosting with yahoo for a while now and I find its good :D Im thinking of changing tho. I used to use it more for my guilds, their website and games, etc. But I dont really do much with my guilds anymore. So Im paying about 12$/month just for some hosting. I use it tons to host images and stuff (for like my 4m ads) and a couple of webpages. Suggestions of some cheaper places? :P

Oh yahoo can be 10$/month if you pay for a year at a time... thats a little better I suppose :o Anyways, I like yahoo, havent had problems. They say unlimited bandwidth and storage space. Dmitri says they are lying, if you use a crapload they will block you. I havent tried to push the limits so I dont know :P I do use a ton of bandwitdh tho, for my 4mil ads alone :P

I get my domains at godaddy.com and haven't had an issue. My hosting is through QualityHostOnline.com. A friend recommended it to me several years ago and I've never had any concerns with them. Technical support has always been pretty quick the few times I've needed it. I have the $3.95 USD/month plan and is way more than enough for me. I tend to stick to WordPress and use premade themes that I sometimes tweak... but that's for a blog/personal website. Depends what you are looking to do. I've never used the program DreamWeaver... just basic ol' Notepad. Oh and Paint Shop Pro for graphics work.

There's something about being able to work in both code and graphic interface that grants you that extra conceptual understanding of how things are organised. When I got Dreamweaver, my websites improved visually much quicker, add on photoshop (especially the later versions that can output html) and I started producing works that rivaled big company websites. While the understanding is there to work within things like notepad, it would just make things so much harder and time intensive. /not saying you should go out and get the programs, just detailing my experiences.
