Tips on getting more hits in a small shop?

I have a size 76 shop, stocking Luck/Maps. I'm in a mall, but we aren't MM. I advertise a LOT on the Shop Ads, where I get pretty much ALL of my hits, aside from maybe 10 - 15 SW hits, and 2 or 3 mall hits. Just wondering; do you guys have any tips for a small shop like mine to get more hits? Every time I take out small NB ads, they never show up on the damn NB ads, even when I pay enough. Are these ads even worth it, though?

put an omlette you get from the daily for 5 np, and the jelly for 1 np. Thats 2 hits (: and any other 1-10np item, not junk though like a lot of the fishing prizes

There has been a lot of discussion about this since you've been gone, (glad you're back!) NB Ads: http://www.neomallers.com/node/756 http://www.neomallers.com/node/1310 http://www.neomallers.com/node/1381 http://www.neomallers.com/node/1914 Getting traffic: http://www.neomallers.com/node/738 http://www.neomallers.com/node/1916 http://www.neomallers.com/node/1809 Waaay more discussion than that though so just put some key words in the search box and wait about 1.5 seconds and you can learn a ton about any subject nearly. IMO -- don't bother with anything less than 4 MIL ad and don't bother with that if you don't have a popular category. SW/SSW price everything in your shop past page 1. Keep page 1 prices low -- I know you don't have many pages so that means you need to buy more items to put in your shop (be creative)...RS the items (which will be hard for you)...max out the 5% out of category rule for your shop...switch categories. ~ Mimi ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ temps_bons graphics ~ http://www.neopets.com/~Mimi_Miaulement

About SW Pricing: What is the point of it, though? You just end up losing money on things... I don't understand it. And people never go and buy your marked up items, either. ________________________________ Are you feeling lucky? http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=forcefedup&nb

SW pricing draws in people, who often spend much more... When someone goes on a million np shopping spree in my map shop, I invariably find one map among the pieces they buy that was SSW priced... So they buy one map piece from which I get no profit... but then they buy another 19 map pieces with very large profit margins... sometimes even 99k maps that I buy back for 25k. :P ------------------------------------------------------------------- ~~ Come visit my map shop ~~

Never buy anything (ever) that you cannot sell at SW prices and make a profit. (One day, you may just have to price it at SW to get it to sell.) Also, SW does not mean the lowest price or even close. There is a real art/strategy to SW that works to make lots of points. SW prices = free advertising for your shop to a very focused group of people: people with points looking for a particular item because they don't know where to buy it in Neopia or they don't have time for it to restock. People buy about 500 of my "marked up items" each week which is pretty good for a size 240 shop. And I started to say this earlier: there is no way around having a small shop and SW pricing until you get into a large mall with main market size shops. SW pricing is a necessity when you have such a small shop. SW pricing is a necessity when you have a huge shop in an unpopular category. SW pricing is a necessity unless you are one of a handful of shopkeepers in Neopia or in their mall. The only reason to not SW price is when you sell so much that you can't keep up with restocking so you bump your prices up. I don't have time to restock my 1200 spaces daily so I don't want all of my items to sell. I don't think shop owners with over 5,000 items want all of their items to sell-out daily either so that's why mall shops have crazy prices sometimes. Malling is a game of strategy that has layers of complexity. If it weren't mentally challenging/stimulating adults like me would be bored by it and would not play for years. If I'm telling you to SW (or anything else) then there is a very long logical list of reasons why you should do it. ~ Mimi ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ temps_bons graphics ~ http://www.neopets.com/~Mimi_Miaulement

Also, look at the top shops page here -- 126 AVERAGE SW hits today from the best shops on this site. Trust me they aren't low SW pricing 120+ items daily.
...so that's why mall shops have crazy prices sometimes...
Lol I'm not even in a mall, I've just been preparing the past 4 months to actually get a mall worthy store going... though I've had very little time to restock it... anyways my point to this is even though I'm not in a mall there are just a couple items I far overprice and they sell, just because everything else is an average price. The way I'll do it when i actually get time (Winter break) it probably first page is just average SW prices for exposure, then deeper pages are semi over priced, so that I draw people in and hope they go on a crazy "Buy everything I can" spree! --- Step outside, take a breath of fresh air, then look down to see if you have a new text message.

Or are they ones within my category? Do I place ones outside of category at SW? Sorry for all the really dumb questions, I've never actually done this before, and I've been selling Luck & Maps for around 2 or 3 years on and off. ________________________________ Are you feeling lucky?
