Supersize Me!
I am looking at the movie for the second time, and i was wondering has anyone else seen it? Did it affect the way you feel about Mcdonalds at all? Did it surprise you? When I saw it I wasn't surprised about what it can do, but how many people actually eat Mcdonalds three times a day? It would be insane.

i saw it in health class. i'm vegan & the smell of mcdonald's honestly makes me want to puke, so it's not like i ever had a positive image of mcdonald's. and i'm sure there are some people who do eat it three times a day. D;

I watched it and made my children watch it -- they ask for McDonald's less and have said the most they ever want to eat there is once per month -- we don't even do that now. I was a little surprised that he had been a vegan and that binge perhaps did permanent damage to his vital organs. ~ Mimi ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ~ temps_bons graphics ~ http://www.neopets.com/~Mimi_Miaulement

Lets see: 7 days a week times 3 meals a day is 21 meals a week. I eat mcdonalds about 5 or 6 of those meals a week. I weigh 110 and can't gain weight no matter how much I eat. No matter where or what I eat, it doesn't affect me. I wouldn't mind gaining a bit because I feel like I'm unhealthily thin, but my body says no *unsure*

I never really ate much fast food to begin with. The movie was interesting, and duh, if you eat greasy (though yummy) fries and burgers everyday it's NOT healthy. But as far as the movie changing how much I eat out, not really. I eat McDonalds about once a month, twice if i'm too lazy to cook, and fast food about once a week. Usually Wendy's :)

Ah, so many points that I can make but I will retain myself. I've never seen the movie, but I get the gist of what it's about. James: It's not about the body fat and maintaining your body weight. Fat also can build up in your organs which could lead to organ failure, and can build up in your blood vessels/veins and lead to hypertension (high blood pressure) and heart failure. You really have to watch what you eat. That being said, I saw an episode of "The Doctors" the other night and someone asked if it was ok to eliminate fat. They answered that pregnant people need it and they made another point. They could have answered it so much better: You NEED fat in your died. 30% of your calories should come from fat. Yes, there are different types of fat - you want to stay away from the bad ones and eat the good. What people don't realize is that if you reduce the fat intake much under that 30% requirement, your body won't have fat to use for energy and it will go after other sources. The vegan comment: You have to be careful if you're a vegetarian or vegan because your body still needs the requirements from those foods. Especially when you're a vegan - you can easily be deficient in B12, calcium and other vitamins that are highly concentrated in meat and animal products. Supplements are ok, but they shouldn't be used instead of food because it isn't as available (your body can't use it as easily). Sorry for the rant.... Also to the 110lb comment: I hope you exercise too. Just because you're small doesn't mean you're healthy. I'm 110lbs, and I also feel too skinny, but my percent boody fat is above normal. Plus fat can build up in places that you didn't know exist - between and in your organ - and a little bit of exercise can reduce your risks of many things such as diabetes, cancer, and other chronic diseases!! (I definitely don't practice what I preach, but I keep telling myself I'm going to. And I'm going to start exercising after exams are over and I get a chance to relax). PS: I'm a biochemistry (nutrition) major. I tried to stay away from big words so that everyone can understand. But if you want clarification feel free to reply or PM me. :)

Yup, 15% protein, 20-30% fat, and 60-75% carbohydrates should about be the diet. Though really, McDonalds is just poor quality food. I prefer school food to it (I'm in High School). I've never understood why people love it. Carls Jr... I could eat that all day ;) --- Step outside, take a breath of fresh air, then look down to see if you have a new text message.
