Installing portal on windows 7

i have been trying for 2 days to install the portal on my new computer which uses windows 7 (like all new computers these days...) after searching this site for answers and trying to install it many different ways i figured id ask for help :)

Do you have Norton running? I think that's the same error I was getting until I shut off Norton and tried again. I have Windows 7 and it's working fine. after all three days of trying different things... i decided to go on IE and do it there and for some reason it made a difference, im not really sure why but anywho i got it to install! thanks everyone i got it to install but it wont run it says... "windows is searching for portal.exe. To locate the file yourself, click browse" any ideas?

sounds like you or your computer deleted the portal.exe file. The other option is let me look at things via a program called TeamViewer (google it) Basically it will allow me to see your screen and control basic aspects like the mouse/keyboard --------------------------------------------- Celebrate [color=red]Xmas[/color] at [color=green]Xmart[/color]. Great when you load it up, you'll see a 9 digit number like XXX XXX XXX and a four digit access code. No worries. And actually, the core installation doesnt seem to copy over the portal.exe file for some odd reason. But the updater patch seems to take care of it.
