[GUIDE] Speeding up your firefox

Increase the Speed in Which Firefox loads pages This guide is based on: (source: http://gnoted.com/3-hacks-for-firefox-double-internet-browsing-speed/) ************BUT: dont do the browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewer stuff. It's useless and actually slows down performance since most computers have plenty of RAM 1. Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit Enter. (Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.) 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true” Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true” Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 10. This means it will make 10 requests at once. 3. Lastly, right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0“;.(Zero) This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages faster now. Optionally (for even faster web browsing) here are some more options for your about:config (you might have to create some of these entries by Right Click –> New– > Interger or String network.dns.disableIPv6: set “false” “content.notify.backoffcount”: set “5“; (Five) “plugin.expose_full_path”: set “true”. “ui.submenuDelay”: set “0; (zero) ------------------------------------------------ Here's a little trick i use: If you have plenty of memory (like 1.5 GB RAM or more) Try the following to maximize RAM cache (which is faster than hard disk cache anyways) create/edit an integer called browser.cache.memory.capacity and set it to like 131072 (128 MB) Use a lower value if you dont have alot of memory. Works great on a laptop with 3 GB RAM, dual core processor.

Some of these I had already done, just did the few extra's you suggested but, it seems like it's still a bit sluggish. Loads at a "normal" rate that most would consider fast but, I did something years ago for an old laptop of mine that was no where near as good as this one yet, just seems slower. For the life of me, I can't remember what I did either. Maybe someone might know what I mean or have other suggestions?

Firefox is such a crappy browser these days. They're pushing updates just so they can get their version number up to par with chrome and the like. And the new "features" are full of bugs. The browser is pretty bloated too
