Overpricing. Good or Bad?
Can overpricing have its advantages? or will it steer away customers?
You see, i don't know. It seems werid to me doing it
People just overpriced for the sake of profits. It is often done by many mallers even if it's only 50np profit margin. It's still higher than the SSW price. You're in for a surprise. You can do whatever you like. Me I only overprice cheap item (<1000NP). All my other items are priced with the average of SSW and I still do profits with them. By overpricing, I mean have a big markup

Overpricing is how I LIVE!!! Haha! I'm only size 40, and I can easily rake in a 1 mill till day on a good week end, with around 300k - 400k in profits! I LOVE it! However, I'm a really good marketer for luck & chance (which practically markets itself, seriously), so I don't think having lower prices would increase my sales by a whole lot. Maybe a bit, but they're so good atm, I don't wanna mess around. It just takes a crapload of advertising if you're below Main Market and wanting to "price for profit", as I call it. (Overpricing sounds so negative :P) Otherwise, no one will know your shop exists, and you will not show up on the Shop Wizard. Btw, ignore all haters, unless you doing something really, really stupid, like pricing dung for 99k & claiming it's "well-priced". When that day comes, I will insert something sharp into the nearest eyeball (hopefully the n00b happens to be near me). I price all "junk" at 1k, or around there, usually. That way, it shows up on my Sales History. ________________________________ Are you feeling lucky? Click Here!

I guess that depends on what you consider overpricing. Obviously, everyone prices higher than they bought for, what would be the sense in buying it in the first place. I overprice items under 1k. I don't intentionally overprice anything else though. That being said, if prices drop for whatever reason, be it tarla, KQ, or just the neopian economy in general, and there's something in my shop at the old price, I don't generally change it. Once in awhile I will, but otherwise it sits until it sells

I'm in a new category and a new mall for me, so I haven't learned my category yet, BUT - in my former mall and category, I had to keep moving my prices up or I could not keep up with all the restocking. I think I started out pricing things about 300 np above what I paid (SSW) but was selling way too many items. When I reached about 1k over SSW the sales slowed enough for me to keep up, but my profits were about the same because the margin was higher. I like that way much better than having to restock so much. I also priced the more expensive items at about 3k to 10k above what I paid, and they sold very well (at least 1 per day of each item). With this new category I haven't found the sweet spot yet, I'm still fiddling with my prices. I think some of it depends on the value of items you are selling. The cheap stuff doesn't seem to move as well for me as the more expensive stuff. I think items above 40k or so sell better and you can mark them up more. Even in this category, about half my sales are items over 40k. ~ Love books? Please visit my bookshop. :) http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=lolooma

For me, my shop is too small to really be "overpriced" Im always at least in the middle to cheaper end of my SW page except on 1 np items (proto-force helmet, cobrall dagger, warrios round shield etc) where I have my biggest markups but I still only sell those for about 50np max... soo yeah
