I'm not sure with books, I know the person who stocks books in our mall is onto his 19th page. I always buy quest items from my own mall, as a leader its nice to support our shops :P and his shop used to drive me INSANE looking through all them pages to find the quest book I needed. He now has a quest page so that problem is gone. I guess books would still apply, the more you have, the more potential there is to sell. While most people probably don't make it past page 3 or so, the more items you have, with some close to wiz price, the more chance you have to bring people into your shop to begin with.

I also have a quest page (actually it includes all the books in my shop) to make it easier for people on quests to quickly find what they are looking for. I also buy all my quest items from my mall mates, I'm not a leader, but I think it's just being supportive of other people in my mall :)

I upgrade based on hut position (when I can afford to) and my shop hasn't been full in a while. Right now "full" for me would be about 400 open spots. And I also think that having page links is great for bigger shops. When I shop in a big shop, I always click on the highest page to see what's new.

Well I had to stock 1,500 items... I Was only stocking 980ish, 3 of each item, but that was when I restocked my shop daily. Now I bought 520 items - My most popular petpets, and bought like 10 of each so I dont have to restock as frequently... If I was going to upgrade another 100 sizes, Id probably just buy 500 other petpets :P

inara60, I went to your shop a few times and once, I looked at every single page. I loved your selection, so I had to look at them all! *lol* I think that for books, variety is great. If you wanted to downsize your inventory a little, you could always just stop stocking titles that aren't such popular sellers. But I think of a bookstore on Neo like one I would go to in real life, or a library. I love browsing through all the tomes, the more the better! And having page numbers does help for larger shops. Not every customer that comes in will want to look at all the pages, but for book collectors/readers, the variety and page numbers are very helpful. Which reminds me, I need to add page numbers back to mine. When I upgraded malls last month, I had less coding space so I had to take my page numbers off. I stock food, which I also think is one of those variety/many pages is better categories. Most people don't browse through food shops. They come for a specific item or two. I try to stock up on Faerieland Job Quest foods and other basics that people go through a lot.

And you're right, I could always stop stocking the non selling titles if I decide I want to trim a few pages...in fact I did that several months ago...and recently added them back lol. I hate having so much empty space, I always want to fill it :P I agree about the page numbers too, and wish TNT would give us more character space for our coding needs. I just had to reduce my page numbers to 2, 4, 6 etc., because I ran out of character space :P

I have petpets so there are sooooo many items that can be added. I try to fill, then upgrade. Just something I try to do, no reason. :)

I do alot of shop wiz business so for me more stock is better. As for upgrading vs. stocking it really depends on your style of stocking/pricing. I tend to bounce back and forth with what ever I feel like at the moment because that is just how I am. BUT the times I have done a lot of upgrading without stocking and as business picked up I started to regret it. Filling those extra spaces later gets to be very time consuming and can be overwhelming. Not to mention the shopkeeper in you cant help but ask..."how many of the out of stocks would I have sold more of?" LOL

Mel, I dont know about you, but when I was stocking books, most of my sales came from the 1st page only. I think I had like 5-6 pages of books? And i think at least half of my sales were from page 1. So I stocked 5x each book on page 1 and 3x of the rest of the books. If I had continued with books, I would have continued adding new stock all the time and grow in # of pages, but its interesting to think about if its really worth the effort or not
