Dung, but not religion?

I found out the other day that I couldn't tell a friend what I wanted to in a nutshell about "The Davinci Code" and I couldn't say "Catholic" or "church" in my neomail. I can say "dung", "dung cutter" and many quaint exclamatives using dung. What gives? I don't get it.

Neopets is a game with many different kinds and ages of people playing. Religion really has no place in a game. It would just eventually lead to argument and/or negative reactions. UnnconventionalLove, I agree with you--unless two consenting people wish to speak of the subject. The person asked a question about my handle, and I couldn't explain it to them without spelling "Catholic" like "Kathlick".

maybe, but TNT has no way of knowing if the conversation is between two consenting people or between one non-consenting person and one person who is going to spout off about their beliefs inappropriately. if two consenting people are absolutely -dying- to talk about religion....well. there are a zillion religious forums for them to talk about it on. as for the dung. into every life (or out of every bottom, I suppose) a little dung must fall. not so for religion. bodily fluids are just way less controversial than Catholicism.

Unfortunately it is because there are too many people out there who like to argue and its to prevent that. Dung really isnt an argument starter (unless your throwing it at someone :P) Too much is always going on in the world because of so called "religious beliefs" and it would become a war zone on the boards if it was allowed. That and about every single pissed off parent complaining that they dont want their children learning about other religions than their own. Personally I could care less who/what a person believes in, but a game site isnt the place for it and I really wouldnt want to see the aftermath if it was allowed.

But, do you at least agree, that two people COULD get into a heated argument over one's favorite color? I mean just because religion CAN BE controversial, it shouldn't be treated in the same category as foul language or other inappropriate forms of speaking. I just don't understnd why eliminate THAT particular topic, that's all. In my opinion, it just seems foolish. But I guess I'm helping you prove a good point. :D We're only discussing the definition of religion and it's "on". LOL

No, I'm sorry. The "but two people COULD get into a heated argument against their favourite colour" is just reaching. That doesn't support your point at all. We are also not allowed to talk about girlfriends/boyfriends, sexual orientation, illnesses (mental or physical - up to and including the Swine Flu), pregnancy (even if you're an adult and the pregnancy was planned) or politics. In fact, while it never actually works out that way - we are technically not allowed to talk about ANYTHING other than NEOPETS on neopets. So you can stop feeling like religion has been completely martyr-ified now.

Not to mention, some people take religion/politics very seriously and even an ounce of disapproval, etc may insult them.

Rule #12 in the Neorules states, "Do not discuss religious or political views anywhere on Neopets." It does not state that you cannot discuss the subject of religion., but only your views on it.
