Lol I'm going to clean my desktop before I post it, I do that like every 6 months and I save 3/4 of my stuff straight to the desktop. I even have organized folders for it all... I just don't use them.

I saw this link, posted, then went back and read ~ Hahahahahaha. I like the people on this site.
I can't believe how many icons some people have on their desktops, (no, I didn't clean mine up). I'd hate to see the start-up menus.
I have put dozens of machines together, they become dinosaurs just as fast as the store bought ones. I always used high end components and even if you buy basic oem software there really isn't much savings. If you enjoy assembly it's fun to watch it come together, just not cheaper. This is the first "ready made" machine I've had and I spent a lot of time removing all the crap gateway put on it. Otherwise I'm well pleased.
If you're shopping around for a new machine 'newegg' and 'fry's' are decent resources. Just don't get lost in the comparisons. So many companies use different data to compare their products it's like apples and oranges. Figure out what you want and how much you can spend and go from there. I would bow to D's prowess in these area's.
Let's see now ~ good stats, portal on desktop, large widescreen monitor, (no deduction for jpg 'cause I read the first post and it said "or do what you usually do"), answered questions and gave meaningful advise, and I talked about haw great Dmitri is...... I win! Hahahahahahahaha Have fun people :)
Okay, I'll give it a try
6 gig ram, quad core processor. Looks like killercars' stolen computer got beat :P
and yeah giant is right. Nowadays, the price difference isnt much. Actually I swear, the CPU costs more to buy individually. It's about $150 for even a simple Intel Core 2 Duo. Then hard drives come at $99. 2GB memory comes at about $35 each. The cheapest LCD monitor is about $150. DVD burners come around $50. Add keyboard and mouse for $40ish That's already $500+ and i know there are full PCs for around $399.
