Christmas Holidays

I was wondering over the Christmas Holidays how many weeks do the schools close down for in America please ? Or if you work like me ;) do you get time off ?

My boy is in elementary school, his last day is December 18th and his 1st day back is January 4th.

We have a half day on the 22nd, then dont return till the 5th

I don't have to have university class from Dec 7 to Jan 11th. I have from the 18th (which is a half day, we get out at 10:30) until January 4th. The kids go back on the 5th. I am an intern at an elementary class for my masters degree.

My first day off is Christmas Eve. I go back the following Monday.
