Movies

So we have a book thread, I figure another thing we all have in common is that we like to watch movies! What are some of your all time favorites as well as good/bad movies you've seen recently? The last movie I've seen in theaters was 'Brothers'. Excellent movie, very say though. It's about a guy that goes to war and how his family at home deals with it. The last movie I've rented was "Shrink". It's not a big movie, and most of you probably haven't heard it. Kevin Spacey is in it and it's definitely rated R, but it was good, in a different kind of way. He's a shrink and it follows both him and his patients. It's a little hard to follow, but it wasn't terrible. Not excellent, but not bad. All time favorite? Hm, hard to say. Shrek and Finding Nemo are favorites when it comes to animation; Comedy I'd have to say Little Miss Sun Shine and Death at a Funeral. Romantic comedies...... are my all time favorites and I can't limit it. Dramas would be Seven Pounds, The Bucket List (drama/comedy), Life as a House (sad comedy), Pursuit of Happyness (sad/heartfilled). Anyways, enough about my favorites, lets here yours! Feel free to post after seeing a movie with your reviews on it.

For the longest time Pulp Fiction was my favorite movie. I'm not really sure what it is now. But, some of my other favorites are Kill Bill, the LotR movies, Moulin Rouge, Apocalypse Now, Trainspotting, Boogie Nights, Spirited Away, Serenity, the South Park movie, Clerks and many others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Edit: minixlucy's post made me realize that I forgot Shaun of the Dead in my list above.

Best movie I've seen in awhile is The Strangers. Movies never really bother me but this one did. o-o Spare a vote? http://www.neopets.com/beauty/details.phtml?pet=angusstino

I'm not a huge movie person, but I love Audrey Hepburn movies. Gone With The Wind, Shawshank Redemption, Silence of the Lambs, Man on Fire, Steel Magnolias and the Lion King. Quite broad with my selections. :P - Kara

This is not really a movie but a HBO series. "Band of Brothers" is the best and most realistic film of Wold War 2. You get a front seat of D-Day all the way to the battle of the bulge and then finally to Berlin. It's a must see Steven Spielberg classic. Last movie I've seen was "Sherlock Holmes" played by Robert Downy Jr. MAN! That was AWESOME! Everyone should see it! _______________________________________________ Bugsy's GUIDE to Effective SHOPKEEPING and MALLING: Version 3: Learn More About Hut Positioning http://www.neopets.com/~bugsy_lenny

Yeh, Sherlock Holmes was great! I love The Rock, Run Fat Boy Run, Hot Fuzz, Batman Begins and of course, Mr Bean!

I last saw Howards End. I love, love, love Emma Thompson. She's incredibly versatile and talented. Howards End was ok. I'd give it a 7/10. My absolute favorite movies are Love Actually, Secretary, Snatch, Dogma and Die Hard (the first). Lately I've been watching more foreign movies. I find the stories quite different than what we have in the US. Lilja 4-ever for example is extremely interesting and covers its subjects in a very different way than we'd have it presented in the US. And anything by Akira Kurosawa is amazing. Dreams is fascinating and Seven Samurai is one of the greatest movies of all time. :D -- Ninjas versus Pirates is a conspiracy theory to distract us from the real battle between Unicorns and Dragons. Ninjas and Dragons FTW.

I'm not really a movie person but if I had to pick my favs it would be the Sound of Music and The Children of the Corn...I am also excited about the new Nightmare on Elm St but it will be weird that freddy is not Robert Englund I don't know much about Jackie Earle Haley so it'll be interesting to see how the movie turns out Also in reading everyone's post I don't recall anyone saying anything about Avatar...We are planning on seeing it next week in 3D...

Oooh, yes the Notebook makes me boohoo everytime I watch it... That's why I refuse to go see Dear John, because I know it's going to be a tear-jerker.
