Run-time error '713'

Hi I changed computers recently and have tried to open up portal, but whenever I do, I get this error. "Run=time error "713": Class not registered. You need the following file to be installed on your machine. MSSTDFMT.DLL

try reinstalling it by downloading the core files since that file needs to be registered into the system. ----------------------------- Contrary to popular belief, the Irish and I are not married

just tried reinstalling it still the same error. By any chance is it a problem with my computer?

-By any chance is it a problem with my computer?- As someone who works in IT, the answer is ALWAYS yes *lol* edit: I had a couple steps here, but I removed them until I look at my own machine for a sec :) What OS are you running? The proper file location is probably going to be different depending on your version of Windows...

I'm currently using vista

Have you tried restarting too? (and then installing) ----------------------------- Contrary to popular belief, the Irish and I are not married

Still getting the error after restarting and reinstalling:/ I normally keep my portal on a flashdrive so I can use different computers while updating o.o

Make sure the MSSTDFMT.DLL is located in your Windows/System32 directory. Open a command prompt with Admin privileges and type: C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe Msstdfmt.dll And let me know what happens.

The module "Msstdfmt.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files The specified module could not be found ^ it said that :o

Are you running Vista64 or just Vista? If you are running 64 bit, move the file and change the command line to: c:\Windows\SysWoW64\regsvr32.exe Msstdfmt.dll

I think I'm just on regular vista
