I don't think those rules have been updated in a while... In KR most of us have text/banners above the mall banner and nothing has been said to us... Recently Adria herself even made a special mall banner for our "SDB clearance sale" and she included a banner for the top that linked to our shops.... You might want to ask her or your mall manager about that rule. :)
I think you'd have to try real hard to get worse than that in main market... not to mention I pay an ad fee of 354,500 for my mall o_o
Doesn't that mean your profits don't cover your nb ad? I would move out of that category right away or join another mall. 354k is incredibly high for a category like yours. That's just ridiculous. Not to mention that is one of the worst categories...

If you're interested in changing malls, we'll take you in Herald Square Mall. ;) Your category is one I would never tackle, so I wish you the best with it.
Shop at YoNeoMama's for Plushies, Toys, Usukis and much, much more! Thank you! http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=yoneomama

yeah 354k is insane. nb ads should be tailored to the spot popularity. but really, it stinks now. i dont even make a profit even with the wearables spot lol. and isnt herald square for shop sixe 100 or something? that'd ultimately be leeching and she'll perform worse lol

Another thing you can try is a new/different ad payment system. I found that most of the members in my mall simply weren't getting their NP back on the fees paid. Not only that, but a fair few of them ended up losing NP (so much so that the net profit each month was a negative). So I thought up a system that allowed our members to get the benefits of some ads, but not pay excessive amounts for it. Each month, the members pay their fees as usual, this NP and any additional amount the members are willing to contribute goes into the bank. The interest generated from this fund goes towards ads for the mall. When members leave, they get their NP back. What's happening is that over time, the amount builds up. The longer people stay in the mall, the greater the fund and the ads that get posted. While it's still less than what we could afford if the entire fee went into ads, we're not losing out on any NP. We can also pay for ads at the top of specific pages (get the most out of our NP), rather than having a set amount to be paid which could place us at the lower end of a page. We've been using this system for roughly 9 months now, and we've not had any complaints, and a great many have been very happy with it. Anyhow.. something to think about.

And IMO only 4 mil ads are remotely worth taking part in. It sounds like you don't post 4 mil ads, any other ads below that are beyond crap IMO and from my experience. ___________ Kirsty, aka evil super mod Sniper, maller, restocker Silverdragon siggy stealer Best wearables shop owner ever!

Yeah Kirsty is right. Even 4mil ads on page 2 are crap. Anything beyond that is a complete joke. Brian was lololol-ing at it when he spammed the last page of the nb ad - only 19 hits

We just got the mail about this weeks ad and I told him that I've had it with their setup. Each week with the ads I'm actually losing over 200k. Truly ridiculous. I'd rather be on my own making only a bit than making negative numbers due to a poorly run setup.
