You shouldn't feel tied to a system that isn't working for you. Our mall tried an ad on the first page near christmas last year. I asked all the members to neomail with results of how much their sales improved. Those that wrote back said that the cost of the ad was more than they made. Since then, I've paid more attention to how many hits our ads get, and it really isn't worth it. But some members swear by it, so I didn't want to scrap the ads.. just change them so they don't harm any one. I know some malls do an optional ad contribution, where members pay what they want towards an ad. Not sure how fair it would be in practise, but in theory it could work. Also, with the system our mall has, we post ads as NP allows; generally between 4 - 7 ads each month. Most of these are timed to appear at the top of selected pages for the weekend. We usually have top position on several pages (for a short while at least). I've got an unusual category which doesn't get much attention via huts and ads (retired items), so it's hard for me to gauge how well others do at it. But seeing some members hits on here, there really isn't that much of an increase in customers.

Hey. I do magic/meds, attack/defence... In Main too... I make have sales of about 388k per day... only make about 64k profit though... I dropped off my 4 mil ads, because I just didnt get enough hits off them. Now, I price my items VERY reasonably (I have SSW, which helps A LOT). I also do a lot of advertising on the neoboards (while trying to to spam them). The way I see it... On some items, I only make a few NP profits... I sell most of my healing potions for under 50NP... lime elixir for 7np... That doesnt give me a lot of room for profit... but the way I see it, if people see that the items in my shop are cheap, they will come back more often, buy more items and in the end, give me more profit... That way, I dont have to pay 200k a week for a 4 mil ad, and get more hits. Today for example (note, its only 4am NST), ive gotten 12 hits off the shop wiz, and 17 off the neo boards... Takes a lot of work and time though...
