No the part that gave me trouble was all those unbeatable enemies that you had to dodge tightly inbetween, so there would be say a row of trees down the bottom, and those metal things in the air, I found the gaps too tight to make it through most the time. Yeah, it took me two tries. If you don't get almost everything in the first part of level one, restart. The points are worth it. --- Step outside, take a breath of fresh air, then look down to see if you have a new text message.

It may be helpful to know that the clouds/air currents block the cannon balls -- so use them behind your ship -- actually anywhere to block the cannon ball fire.
