NB Ad Shops with No Items :O

I've noticed that a lot of shops that have an ad on the Notice Board (shops that are in well-known malls) don't have more than 20 items, yet their category could hold MUCH more. Why is this? Is their shop simply emptying because their mall is so popular and they're shop is amazing, therefore people are buying them out? Or is it just because they're lazy and don't want to fill their shop up?

Ok... It seems to only be the Codestones, Scratchcards, and Dubloons shops... But still, there are plenty of items you can put in to fill up... Just curious.

A lot of malls require those ''Training'' shops to carry only training items. Hence, you see codestones, faeries and dubloons only in their shops. Another reason why you see only a page stock of items is because they want their category items to be seen on the front page therefore customers can easily find what they are looking for. I have noticed this also, and not just with training shops. There are a lot of large shops in good malls that only seem to stock 1-3 pages. I've seen this in almost every category and wondered the same thing, myself. The few times I've inquired, I was told the person had issues going on in RL and just didn't have the time to stock it. I guess the notice board ads are a habit or mall obligation. Anyway, I agree, it's bizarre! :P ~ Love books? Please visit my bookshop. :) http://www.neopets.com/browseshop.phtml?owner=lolooma

I actually recommend it to my own mall. Ugly looking stuff = bad sales so it's better to be selective and stock the good stuff.

A few people in our mall only stock 1-3 pages. I only have 3 myself. How many customers actually look through 16-17 pages of stock anyway? And do they buy any more just because there is more to choose from? I update my stock fairly regularly, to keep bookmarkers coming back, and if something doesn't sell I ditch it and try something else. It also means I can have 'lines' that go together and are visually interesting. It's actually more time consuming than restocking a full inventory when you do it right.

See, I disagree. I stopped malling for a while to run a general store. I usually have 8 pages of stock and I usually sell about 2,000 items per week. I think if you're gonna be in a mall, that you could be considerate enough to fill to your maximum item allowed size. Not only would it be profitable but also it gives a variety of items and not the same old boring shop look.

When I started malling, I ran a bookshop. I concentrated on expanding my unique items all the time, wanting to eventually have all the buyable books in my shop and having a crazy # of pages. But now... if I wasnt doing training, but I had any other category... I wouldn't go for that goal at all. I'd probably try to have ~5-7 pages of stock, but I wouldnt keep growing unique items much past that. It seems like WAY too much work and effort for no reason. Like many people have mentioned... no would would actually go through all 20-30 pages of your stock, so why bother?? Keep it smaller and simple. Put awesome, unique looking items in there, maybe change your stock once in a while, getting rid of bad selling items and putting in new, fresh ones. But having a million pages of stock doesnt seem worth the effort to keep up with it

Whether its just my category, I don't know. and, "having a million pages of stock doesnt seem worth the effort to keep up with it" if they don't sell, its no hassle to keep up with it :P

yeah but i see alot of people complaining on the shop boards about how malls contain a billion and one pages

If they're not selling, price to sell. I keep mine so i can be seen on the SSW.
