Malling Advice?
Hi! :D I need some malling advice. I've been trying everything possible to get hits to my shop, and it just isn't working. :( It's probably my category or shop size though. :P I'd highly appreciate it if someone could answer a few questions of mine. xD 1) Does pricing ~50-70% of your stock at 100-500nps above SW price really help sales? (This is main question I'd love answered, lol. I'm pretty much using a 40-60% markup strategy atm, and I'm wondering if this is better @_@) 2) I've heard rumors that having 1-2 page(s) of shop stock that're heavily stocked with popular items is better than having multiple pages with tons of items that never sell. True? 3) 4mil NB Ads. y/n? Thanks! :D

I'm no large shop myself ( size 166 ) so I'll try my best to help you out =D 1)I price all of mine based on the SSW. Like my basic neggs I only make about 150nps a piece off of, but I sell A LOT and it adds up quickly. I try to always be one of the cheapest 5-10 shops on the SSW. Prices fluctuate and I don't like lowering the price of an item just for the sake of selling, but I reprice my entire shop at the end of each month to be middle of SSW. Gets more volume of buyers. 2) I don't know much about this one. I have about 3.5 pages and some of my more popular sellers are on the last page, although it may just be that they majority of my buys come from the shop wiz ( thanks to the handy dandy counter =D ) 3)I've only ever done 1, but I posted it and we topped out in the 2nd position behind the Roo Island Boardwalk Mall and I know just that week I made in profit 900k. It might have just been the timing though. I'd have to do more to know anything for certain.. Hope this helps a little.

Alright, thanks! ;D I might actually try that SW price thing in a few days, when I have the time to re-search everything. Don't have SSW though, so... :(

I don't know much about your category. but at a glance, your shops looks good. I actually don't have much of a decent pricing strategy. All of my items are well above wiz and then some, but my items still sell pretty quickly. From past experience as a 1K deals shop, too many pages can be an overkill. How many pages to stock depends on your category and mall rules, but I think anything over 8 is just too much. People don't like to comb 20 pages to find the item they're looking for. Most of my sales come from my mall, the shop ad neoboard, and the notice board. Getting into a mall with a lot of visibility is a definitely a sales boost. 4 million NP NB ads really only help if your ad hits the top spot. If you can get into an ad with an experienced poster, it is definitely worth it. Just don't get into an ad with a high button cost. Be sure it's something you can afford. If you're not ready for that, the shop ads neoboard is a great boost for sales. A catchy title will draw people in, and a clear ad with a couple of buzz words & link to your shop should at the very least get them to stop in and take a look.

My perception on this: 1 &2 ) 90% of my items are above the SSW price. And it still works. And yes, the first 2 pages sells the most. Especially the first page. I also found that if I priced all of my items like this: 4900, 2590, 13990 than pricing it like this: 5000, 2600, 14000 then I get more people buying my items. Also, I've learned that if I sniped items that are not in my category just for fun and I put those items below SSW, I find I get more hits that way. 2) 4 million np advertisements only work if you put the effort on advertising your shop as well. I find it much more easier if you advertise your shop at "Shop" boards when people put up topics like "I'm buying" or just put up a topic yourself. You'll see Nican, Gothsun and other people here from neomallers doing the same. This is why they get so many views also. Furthermore, don't just limit yourself with just advertising at "Shop" boards but also advertise your shop by putting your shop link in your signature all over Neoboards. Of course, you'll have to stay on topic but leave your signature as a reminder that you are having a sale in your shop. This is actually useful as if I did this, I would be at least top 10 at "Top Shops". Since, I don't have that much time to do that (e.g. final weeks) then it's not really working. With that said, 4 million advertisements are not of course wasteful. It gives you an extra edge other than those people that do those advertising stuff already. An overall result of these "efforts" will get you more views. You're in for a surprise. I have the same results in my shop with pricing. It's amazing that 5139 will sell quicker than 5000 -- Even though it's higher. Most of my items end in 2,3,4,6,7,8 because other users typically end prices in 5 & 9 -- When I don't SW prices this makes sure they will fall under the 5/9 people without looking. I only use 1's for Gourmet Foods and EVERYONE LOVES that! I have many who buy gobs of gourmet because it's so easy to find them in my shop. Also I only stock the lower priced gourmet foods. Try everything before you SW everything. I say this because I SW/SSW EVERY price at least once per week and this is SOOOO time consuming. I'd only resort to this, if I were you, if business was slow and then I'd only stock 1-2 so you don't miss a price change or lose too many NPs. I don't know but clean prices like 5000, 2000, and 10000 give people a kind of impression that the price is expensive. So what I do is when I have prices like that, I put 4900, 1900, 9900. The 100s are sacrificed but they are selling. :P _______________________________________________ Bugsy's GUIDE to Effective SHOPKEEPING and MALLING: Version 3: Learn More About Hut Positioning Edition http://www.neopets.com/~bugsy_lenny

I think I might try a combination of that with my two cheapest Scratchcards, and see which sells more. ________________________________ Are you feeling lucky? Click Here!
