Okay, so can you clear a few things up for me?
Alright, I have a lot of questions. I've been a memeber on this site for a cpl weeks now and I'm very confused. First question: What is a 4mil shop ad? What's it about?? Second question: What are people talking about when they're talkin about getting into "main" or "hut"? I haven't a clue.... And how do I get into there too? :D Third question: What are the best selling unique items I should put in my shop? I usually just stick with the Food Shop, Book Store, Smoothies, and Chocolate Factory. I'm a n00b I thoroughly admit it. But help me out here.

1. a 4mil shop ad is in the notice boards section where people (or malls) can post advertisements, kind of like a classifieds section in a newspaper. a 4mil refers to the cost i.e. 4 million np. That is the most expensive ad you can place and, because of that, it gets the most views and can really increase traffic. 2. a hut or main is a grouping of large shops. there are three marketplaces the main, island, and spooky. the main marketplace is biggest (if you go to the toolbar and hit shops and then in the center of that there is a market place link) it is a place to be seen. A hut is the individual building icon that you belong to. Each market place has huts (the main has house-looking huts) and each icon corresponds to a specific 10 shops I believe. 3. no idea, sorry Thats a really brief overview and better members can correct my mistakes but that should get you going :) good luck

http://www.neopets.com/~bugsy_lenny That petpage has great info on 4 millions noticeboard ads and hut positions. As for what items sell best, you will only find that out through trial and error. What sells great for some doesn't for others. I suggest you first start stocking items that you have fun selling and then work from there.

Well, it looks like your first two questions have been answered very thoroughly, so I'll take a stab at the third. I would agree that you just have to experiment, because it really does vary shop to shop, because every shop has a different traffic pattern. That being said, for me, I've found the more expensive items to sell the best, as long as you follow a few precautions. I'll try to explain: The more expensive items usually have more range in between the prices, so you can buy the lowest priced one and price it just below the next one up. Now you are the lowest price in all of Neopia, but you are still making a profit - usually 2,000 np or more. With the really expensive items, you can sometimes make 10k - 15k profit and still be the lowest! Whee! :) (k=1,000 - 10k = 10,000 np) In order for this to work, there are a few warnings. 1) It works MUCH better if you have premium and the super shop wiz, because then you can find the true lowest price in one search. If you are using the normal shop wiz, you have to open about 7 windows and keep searching the same thing over and over to find the lowest price, which takes more time than it's worth. 2) Avoid brand new items, because the price will drop really fast and you can get stuck with these. The exception is an item you are keeping an eye on and really watching the price. If the price is not dropping too fast, these items are quite good to sell because people grab them up. You just have to be very careful to sell out of it before the price drops much more. Sometimes you can find a new item a huge amount below the next lowest, and that is sometimes worth it, but buy the new items with extreme caution. 3) Avoid hard to sell items. If it's something popular and it gets used up, that is an example of easy to sell. For instance, "thick smoke bomb" - very useful in the Battledome, widely used, and they disappear upon use, so people have to go buy another one - or two or three. When I had a small (size 100) Weapons shop, I sold about 10 of these a day, even though I marked them up heavily. Hard to sell would be an item that is just a gallery item but in a category that not many people collect. Use your brain and you can figure out if an item is likely to be easy-to-sell or hard-to-sell, based on this criteria. Nobody can give you a list. There are thousands of items and popularity changes every day. Just develop an instinct and you'll be right at least half the time, anyway. :P You can also ask a few people who stock your category what their 5 best selling items are. Sometimes those will work for you, sometimes they won't. 4) Look carefully at the prices on wiz. If there are large jumps in between them, this would indicate an item that is hard to sell. People are getting desperate to unload the item, so they price it well below the rest - then the next person comes along and does the same thing. You can see this easily on SuperWiz. On the other hand, an item that has prices pretty close together is usually an easy to sell item. People know it's popular, so they don't have to offer a bargain. If you see prices close together, then all of a sudden there is a large gap near the bottom - THAT is when to grab it. Sometimes you'll see 2 or 3 priced similarly just below the gap. In that case, you can buy all three and price them just under where the others end. This gives you the lowest price, but also a profit. 5) Watch the season. Learn the ebbs and flows. For example, toward the end of the month you will see people unloading a lot of items from their Safe deposit box and selling them cheap so they'll have np to spend on half price day. Because of this, prices normally drop as half-price day approaches. This means it's a great time to find bargains, but also things you buy *could* end up selling for way less just a few hours later. That makes it a risky time to buy, too. Certain items have run out in storage so those prices will rise instead of falling, during this time. You just have to learn a feel for it, and know that all of us make mistakes and end up eating a few items during this shift. Summer and winter also have different sales patterns. You just have to be in the water to learn how to swim, and nobody ever gets it perfect. :) Well, those are my best tips. I'm still learning, and I can only speak of what works in my shop, with my size, my mall, my customers, and traffic patterns. Good luck!!! :D ~ Love books?
