I have the exact same problem. I've tried stocking a General Store category before hoping that one type of item would stick with me, but I just can't decide. I even tried going 1001 Np, so I could still stock all kinds of different things yet still have a place in a mall, but the sales were HORRIBLE! I stock Grooming/Clothing, but I'm kind of considering switching to something else. I like my category, but I want a category that stocks a few items in large amounts (like Training, ect. because I don't like having to go through pages and pages of stock) but I'm not entirely sure on how to go about stocking since I don't have the SSW.
I agree there is so many days I wish I would have taken the wearable spot to stock also but I do enjoy stocking clothing/grooming. I do wonder if sales would improve if I did stock wearables. I do stock clothes that are wearable but that is about it. I had one day this past week were sales were 20k but this week I will saw was the worst sales ever for me.
I have consider switching categories or just stepping down from the mall for a bit and letting my store be one its own and then stock the wearables but I do not want to leave the mall either ...specially since I run it ;)
This week has been my worst sales since the middle of January. I don't know what it is, but everyone I've talked to has had lousy sales this week. *unsure*

Don't quit the mall Melissa!! I don't know who will run it if you leave. *cry* But I understand why you're thinking about it.
On another hand, I don't know why, but my sales were pretty good this week. I got my best sales yesterday.
But, it may be because I upgraded my shop a lot these past weeks.
It's very comforting to know that so many people have had such low sales this week. I thought it was just me and thought I had to fix my shop. Of course, customers are the one factor that we can't control. If there's not many users on, there's not many customers. Here's hoping sales will pick up for everyone. :)
